Asian Art Museum - Japanese Palanquin

Japanese Palanquin 1800's. These were used to transport emperors, samurais etc... and their families from there homes to the city and countryside. One palanquin was used for each family member.

Those things are heavy on their own, let alone stuffing a body in there. Though they were made so beautifully, the handcraft are just amazing in those days.

Self, I thought that too. These people that carried the emperors had to be very strong and in fantastic shape :D

i will fit perfectly well in it. but then, maybe i will not be able to ride in it in the first place because i am not a royal blood.

very interesting. the craftsmanship of the carrier is amazing.

I always wondered what it felt like riding in these. I think this is the way I'd like to travel. Maybe not quite as comfortable as some modern limos, but a lot more prestigious.

Ratty exactly :) Though it could be a bumpy ride.

Bossy, It would be cool but I don't think I'd fit in one very well :D
