The Blue Angels were in town for fleet week in San Francisco showing off their acrobatic maneuvers for locals and tourists alike.  Here are a few shots I was able to capture for you.  Enjoy! I Am Participating In Our World Tuesday

The Blue Angels are the annual highlight of fleet week here in San Francisco. I have been to so many fleet week festivities over the years that this week I decided to forgo the air show and rather get out to the Golden Gate Bridge area during their practice show. I spent a couple of hours chasing them around the skies and after a couple of dozen shots had a few good enough to post. It is so difficult getting shots of the Blue Angels. They fly so fast and so low in the sky that half the time you don't even know where they are coming from until they are literally right on top of you. They are truly amazing to watch. The above photo is a maneuver where they fly upside down during a downward spiral. They also fly so close to each other that it is a bit scary at times. I am also going to try and get on at least one of the ships this week. Notice I said try. There are literally hundreds of people doing the same so we'll see. Until next week, enjoy the show. Fleet Weekend All day, October 9-11 Come to Ghirardelli Square for the best view of the Blue Angels air show. Live music and entertainment for the whole family in the plazas throughout the weekend. Click here for more information on additional Fleet Week events including ship tours and exhibits. Fleet Week is an annual event here in San Francisco. The Blue Angels perform air acrobatics and there are several Navy ships docked along the Embarcadero during this event. Though I always try to avoid this event because of the crowds and message it sends, I will try and get photos and video of the Blue Angels and parade of ships. If you are in the area, Ghirardelli Square and aquatic park are the best areas to see the Blue Angels. Pier 39 is a madhouse during this event so I would suggest steering clear of that area. The Golden Gate Bridge and areas surrounding the bridge are also great for viewing.
