As you can see, these amazing creatures are very colorful.  The red coloring on the face of the male determines how dominant he is.  The male is twice as big as the female and stands about three feet tall and weighing in at about sixty pounds. Their canine teeth are as large as human thumbs.  Though mandrills sleep in trees, they are forest monkeys and spend most of their time on the ground.   They are endangered in the wild.
