Thursday Two Questions Meme - Dreams, Questions & Happiness

I am a person who stumbles off into dream land almost every night. Sometimes my dreams scare me, make me smile or make me think. Many times I forget my dreams.

Last evening I had a dream where a friend of mine who I see every so often asked me if I am happier now than I was 10 years ago. I abruptly awakened with that question burning in my mind. I had to do some deep soul searching even to try and answer it.

I think there are many aspects which make me much happier now than I was 10 years ago and many that show I was happier back then. I don't know much about dreams or their interpretations, however that question does make me think and ponder my life.

My two questions are:

1. Do you dream very often and if so do you feel your dreams are trying to tell you something?

2. Are you happier now than you were 10 years ago?

When I do remember the dreams I have believe it or not they are always about work. So if they are trying to tell me something maybe it's that I work too much? I know I would rather not but it is only a 40 hour work week.

Happier now than 10 years ago? Well 10 years ago I thought that I was pretty happy. I thought that my life was going in the right direction. It was only an illusion though. Now, I'm as happy as I make up my mind to be. I'm comfortable where I'm at. I don't have everything I want but that's a good thing because it leaves me something to dream about :)

Ann, love your answer and your comment "Now, I'm as happy as I make up my mind to be" I think that says it all. And, since you dream about work all the time I guess it either means you work too much or you love it. My ? is when will I dream about Duke :D

I mostly could not recall my dreams, and like Ann, those that I can recall are mostly about work, which makes me think, am I still thinking, reflecting and working when I am sleeping? Not a very good sign since it means I am overworked?

I am very content with my life now though I do not have everything, but I believe not having everything is great since it makes me more alive, and it makes me learn more about so many other things. I feel like my emotions go up and down, but most of the time I feel I am happier each day, I thought today is happy but tomorrow becomes happier always. I love happiness :)

Betchai, You are so right that not having everything I think makes us appreciate more the simplest things. I love that you are happier each day. So eloquently expressed, thanks my friend :)

yes, i dream often...i used to keep a dream journal when i was in my 20's. i believe that in some way, our dreams are connected to our waking life. dreams give us insights of our secret thoughts and wishes.

happiness is a decision. so yes, i'm happier now than 10 years ago. i can't say that my life is perfect right now nor i am content with my life but i am happy with what i have. and i am always thankful. i count my blessings and that makes me happy.

Luna, that is a wonderful way to be. Counting your blessings really is important and I know that I sometimes forget to do that. Thanks so much for stopping by and offering your thoughts.

I usually don't remember my dreams. When I do have one that stands out, it's usually after watching some exciting or scary movie. So no, I don't think my dreams are trying to really tell me something. To me, having a purpose and achieving accomplishments make me happy. I think as we grow older, these change and mine are different than 10 years ago. I feel I still have lots more goals to achieve.

Karen, I like those answers. Thanks so much for visiting and commenting. We'll have to get together one of these days and do a photo shoot.

When I do remember my dreams they are very vivid and, as someone else said above, they tend to be about a movie I watched. I think dreaming is our subconscious simply sorting out the days events and filing them away.

Ten years ago was a great time, my hubby and I had only been together a few years. Life has been really good to us so yes, I am even happier now.
Nice article, thanks for the information.

Your header is very cool. It has an Asian feel, having the lotus flower, and the crane is it? The crane looks as if it is wandering and soul searching.
Nice questions. 1) I dream all the time. I do think my dreams are like a sneak peak into my future. Many of my dreams came true in real life. Funny, knowing this, I kept trying to dream that I become super rich, or win the lottery, but d--- it. The dream never took place- yet. lol
2) Happiness vary so much in "what, and how". Ten years ago my happiness was so obvious when I was happy. Now, I am happy but it isn't "wow!" I think it might just be because age made me more calm and more settled.

1) I don't have dreams often, and when I do, I only remember just a little part of it, mostly about family members.

2) Definitely, I'm much happier now than 10 years ago. I'm not nearly close to where I want to be, but I'm content, and happy with where I'm at.
1. Dreams are amazing, and that's why I liked the movie Inception. I think that dreams do often tell you what you were thinking about during the day. I have lost things and dreamed about where I put them. Sure enough, they were there!
2. I am content at this stage in my life.

Hi Jo! I don not dream a lot now that am older. Like AVC, most of my dreams happen when I've recently seen a scary movie or a romantic one. I don't think it's telling me something.
Ten years ago, i said "I'm happy". I still say it now... happiness is a decision. :) Interesting things to ponder. Have good one.

Yes..i would like to answer your first question...I dream almost every night about certain situations. I told my friends about it so that he would not appear in my dream anymore...however, it still there. Anyway, I don't want to face that dream though...i just let it go.

I think all people dream but, honestly, I NEVER recall dreaming. I know I have sleep apnea and, perhaps, that inhibits my breathing - oxygen deprivation, etc, and limited REM sleep. Who knows.

I am definitely NOT happier now than I was ten years ago. So many circustances have changed in my life in the years since, what with the loss of my job of 21 years, the inability to travel anymore, budget concerns, etc.
