Blue Monday - Artwork and Murals

This shot displays the closeup of the shot below which is a series of tile and stone artwork steps that leads to a landing where the views of San Francisco are amazing. It is located in the Sunset district at Moraga and 16th Avenue. There are hundreds of steps and I wanted to show you a shot of the entire staircase but there were people climbing up and down the stairs while I was there. I didn't want people in the photograph so I snapped a portion of the stairs and the one above with my zoom lens. It is gorgeous to see in person. Here is the website to the info on the project.

A portion of the staircase.

I always like homes that have some type of artwork displayed for everyone to see. It tells me the artistic spirit is alive and well in these neighborhoods.

I went to the cemetery the other day and found this simple painting on the outside of a flower shop. It caught my attention through the grey that envelops your usual cemetery. It brought life and color to the grounds and I liked the simplicity of the artwork.

What a fantastic artwork that staircase is. Was this a collective work or just one artist's?
Joanne Olivieri saidā€¦
Maia, it was pretty much a collective. Here is the website where you can learn all about it. http://www.tiledsteps.org/

The steps are beautiful though I'd have one he#% of a time climbing them. As always, the picturesque houses outweigh those "antiques" we've seen in some of the Sunset neighborhoods!
Beautiful design, colors, and fantastic steps! Houses with artwork are wonderful to see, I agree..
