Spreckles Lake - Golden Gate Park

Spreckles Lake is located in the outer Richmond district of San Francisco within Golden Gate Park. Unlike Stow Lake which is surrounded by lush foliage, trees and plant life, Spreckles lake is very stark and almost has a huge swimming pool feel to it. The only thing that attracts me to this lake is the bird wildlife. There are ducks, geese, fish, turtles, seagulls and of course your everyday blackbirds and pigeons of which you can get up close and personal. They waddle right up to you and just hang out. It is so much fun watching them, studying their behavior and of course getting them on camera. Hope you enjoy the photos.

Ann, Thanks, those birds were so cool :)
The animals sure can live peacefully over there although it is in the city.

Hi Joanne, Just had to stop by and see what you had going on today! Love the birds...makes me think of the ones I've taken pictures of on the beach. We've had anything but beach weather here lately!

The lake looks very nice, and all your critters are a joy to see, (but not the mess they're leaving behind).
Hi JO was it a turtle on the second icture. THe last time I saw such a huge turtle was at Taiei zoo!

Seagulls everywhere...they seem to be the most populous birds around here....the little turtles are cute!! You're getting some great shots with that new camera.
