Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson

I grew up listening to Michael Jackson and watching Farrah Fawcett.  Two true legends gone way too soon.  They will always be remembered by me as two loving and caring souls who lived their passions and were admired and loved by many.

On this, the anniversary of their death, I want to pay tribute to them by remembering what they gave all of us.

RIP Michael and Farrah.

There are so many memories that have taken root in my mind and heart while growing up listening to Michael and his music. To list just one song or one memory is impossible. I've loved Michael ever since I was a child listening to the Jackson 5. His death touched me deeply and on this one year anniversary I wanted to pay tribute to the kind and loving person he was and the extraordinary musician he was. I have many favorite Michael Jackson songs but I wanted today to bring you Earth Song - one of the most heartfelt and important songs ever written by Michael. Take time to watch and really listen to the lyrics. Understand that we all need to protect and save our earth from destruction because it is in our hands and we all need to do our part to save our home.

RIP Micheal, we love you.

Michael Jackson - This Is It

I took this photo while in Hollywood. The billboard is located near Hollywood Boulevard and Highland.

I went to see "This Is It" yesterday. Being a life long fan of Michael Jackson this was something I had to experience and what an experience it was. To see this musical genius behind the scenes allows you a glimpse into the real Michael Jackson. His musicality and creative talent comes alive during this documentary. You experience not just the megastar on stage as we all knew him but you see the man behind the music. His musicality, sensitivity and professionalism shine like nothing I've ever seen. This film will have you running the gamut of emotions. I cried, I laughed and danced in my seat. He was the ultimate entertainer who demanded perfection and accepted nothing less. To see this film is to literally be in the presence of greatness all around. It allows the audience to experience that creative flow which if you have never experienced it, this film will take you there. At his age, Michael still had it and then some.

I saw Michael in a different light. I saw him as a creative soul who lived his passion and wanted nothing more than to share himself with the world and heal this earth. Phenomenal says it best.

Whether a fan or not, this documentary is a must see.

Hollywood Walk of Fame

One of the things I wanted to do while in Hollywood was to get a photo of Michael Jackson's star which you can see below. I also took a few shots of some of my favorite entertainers which are also shown below. The stars are located along a stretch of Hollywood Boulevard with some of the major stars located in the forecourt of Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Right in front of the theatre are autographs and footprints along with notes, artwork etc... by some stars etched into the cement. I didn't take any photos of those because of the lighting situation.

I have to say it was fun seeing these stars until I found Michael Jackson's star and something just clicked. I stood there looking at his star deeply saddened that especially on this particular day, October 28th - the day his "This Is It" was opening in theatres across the country, his star lay etched into the ground, alone and with people just mindlessly walking over it oblivious to the fact it was there. The larger than life megastar musician of whom there will never be another comparable to his talent is immortalized with a star along Hollywood Blvd. Somehow this bothered me and I realized though these stars are recognition for entertainers and a novelty for tourists, they really don't mean that much in the grand scheme of life.

On a humorous note I was walking along the boulevard and came across a few people laughing hysterically surrounding a particular star. I went over to see who it was and found Judge Judy's star amongst the Hollywood elite. Judge Judy? The Absolut Vodka star makes more sense than Judge Judy. Don't get me wrong, I love watching her but a star in Hollywood? I had to join in the laughter over that one.

A Tribute to Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson

Referred to as the "King of Pop" this larger than life star I remember as a teenager while watching him and his Brothers, The Jackson Five perform on television. I connected to the music and had to have their ABC album - in vinyl. I listed to that album everyday and drove my parents crazy though my Mom always liked Michael and his music as well.

ABC, I'll Be There, Rock With You, Human Nature, Billie Jean, Thriller and the list goes on an on. They were just a few of my favorites. I always so much admired the creative talent Michael had living within his soul. He once said " the lyrics just came to me" and the music followed. He was a true genius and as many geniuses had to bare the criticism and judgment of others. Rumors constantly swirled around the pop star and remember that these were all just rumors and nothing more.

Being such a megastar he obviously found it very difficult to lead a regular lifestyle. He could not just walk down the street, go to a store or to a park without being attacked by paparazzi and fans. Stardom has it's downside. In my mind and my heart I know there will never be another musical phenomenon like Michael Jackson. There have been and always be in my estimation only a handful that have been able to enrich the world with their music and creative talents. Michael is at the top of that list.

In my opinion Farrah Fawcett was one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood. With those golden locks and golden smile Farrah was rightly dubbed the "blonde bombshell" of the 70's. Who could forget the poster that launched her into the stratosphere with millions and millions of copies sold.



She was the epitome of the "girl next door" beauty whom every man wanted and every woman wanted to be. She was best known for her role in Charlie's Angels yet was a phenomenal actress of which I realized when I saw the movie "The Burning Bed." I was blown away by her performance and knew then that she was a serious actress who could rival anyone in Hollywood.

The most important role of her life was played out in the media. Her battle with cancer was hard fought and difficult. She lived her life the way she wanted, with gusto and pride. She was courageous, determined and confident. It is hard enough to battle this relentless disease but to battle with the whole word watching in order to help others is the most selfless and loving gift anyone can give. She was a true beauty inside and out - through to the end.

One death expected and one unexpected yet both immeasurably tragic. They both were icons who were known and loved worldwide. I am deeply saddened by these losses and want to say that my heart and love goes out to their families, friends and fans.
