Palm Trees

I have to say that I have never seen so many palm trees in one place which includes a trip to Hawaii I took decades ago. I was in heaven. I love palm trees. All of these photos were taken around the hotel grounds. It was simply beautiful. The weather during the day was warm and cooled off during the evening. It was perfect. I never thought I would find anything interesting to capture around a hotel but I managed some good nature shots. I will also have some very interesting shadow shots as well. Stay tuned.

Miss Jo, don't act so innocent...who knows what sort of acrobatics you are doing off there in Hong Kong!! Or even at Ocean Beach, in the nooks and crannies.

They did have a lot of palm trees at the Radisson...I prefer coconut palms to these but, at least, we didn't have nuts falling on our heads...just nuts walking aound!

Carmen, you know me too well. And with the high flying melon ball incident on the plane to Hong Kong, it got me in the mood.

We were the nuts walking around the Radisson :D

Palms trees are one of my main plants. They make me feel like I am in tropical islands. It's great you've found these, the ones in the last picture is the kind I have. Happy Palming.

I think we Angelenos tend to take palm trees for granted. In fact, we find them more of an annoyance during rainy winters, because they drop their huge, dead fronds in big piles all over the street. It takes an out-of-towner to remind us of how beautiful they are.

Camera Critters - Feeding My Squirrel Buddy

Though we are not suppose to feed the squirrels at the gardens, it is always something I enjoy. After all, they do need "good eats" every once in a while. This particular day I brought honey roasted nuts. There were not as many squirrels around as usual, maybe because of the hot weather. So, when I found this little guy in one of the demonstration gardens I decided to let him have the entire bag. He was a bit afraid of me at first but when I piled the nuts in front of him we became instant friends. He even let me take a short video clip of him which you can see below. He was a cutie.
